Leaside Trust, supported by Brookbank Canoes is holding the first ever Fun Rodeo at Lee Valley White Water Centre.

Leaside brings the most entertaining event to hit Lee Valley.

The rodeo is aimed at introducing paddlers to freestylein a fun, relaxed way. Points awarded for anything you can do in your boat, try waving at the judges, or giving a thumbs up, or even swimming for big points! The point of the Rodeo is to have Fun!Open to Juniors(9+) and Seniors(16+)

This rodeo is aimed at providing young people the chance to participate in a freestyle competition without feeling the need to perform at an advanced level.

The rodeo is open to all abilities for young people aged 9-18.   It will be made up of two categories (male and female).  There is no skilled entry requirement, but the ability to move around on flat water would be definite advantage!

Participants don’t require to have passed the Lee Valley Whitewater Test as Leaside will be providing safety cover on the day.  However, since many young people will be on the water at the same time, we would ask that the young people’s leaders offer assistance in the safety of their groups and other water users.

Rules:

1. All paddlers are to pre-register before  Midday 3rd Jan 2012.
2. Registration is open 12.45pm-1.20pm on day of event to confirm paddlers arrival at Lee Valley Whitewater Centre
3. Event to run from 1pm-4.30pm 
4. Paddlers must be ready and on water (lake) for 1.30pm for briefing.
5. Paddlers will receive 90 seconds on wave at bottom of legacy loop to perform Fun Freestyle moves
6. Top paddlers from each category will move onto finals
7. Paddlers are to supply own equipment (Brookbank have offered boats for demo on day of event but these will be limited)
8. Score sheet will be shown on day of event (big points for fun moves)
9. Paddlers will be given number and order of participation on day of event.
10. Paddlers will be give a set time to show moves in playwave.  If a paddler fails to be present during their set time slot they will be disqualified from competition.  This is a rule that will be enforced as we are working under limited time for event.  

The price per entry is £15.  Prizes will be presented after the event thanks to Brookbank.
